Astera Credit Union’s Website Privacy Statement

Thank you for visiting the Astera Credit Union website and reviewing our website privacy statement. (This is not to be confused with our Privacy Policy or Disclosure for the Credit Union. To read our Privacy Policy click here.)

Information Collected and Stored Automatically

For website security purposes and to ensure that this service remains available to all users, Astera Credit Union employs software programs to monitor network traffic to prevent unauthorized attempts to upload or change information, or otherwise cause damage.

For website management, information is collected for statistical purposes. Computer software programs are used to create summary statistics, which are used for such purposes as assessing what information is of most and least interest, determining technical design specifications, and identifying system performance or problem areas. No personal information, such as your name or address, is collected or used for this analysis. We collect no information which would identify you personally.

We automatically collect and store only the following information about your visit –

The date and time you access our site. The pages you visit and the result of the request, such as an image or query, other status codes and values resulting from the Web server responding to the request received: HTP status code, Windows NT code, number of bytes sent, number of bytes received, duration (in seconds) to fulfill the request, server port number addressed, and protocol version.

Astera Credit Union does not use ‘cookies’. (A ‘cookie’ is a file placed on your hard drive by a website that allows it to monitor your visit, usually without your knowledge.) You can set your browser to warn you when placement of a cookie is requested and decide whether or not to accept it.

Information Collected from E-mails and Web Forms

When you send us personally identifying information, for example, in an electronic mail message containing a question or comment or by filling out a form that e-mails us this information, we use this information to fulfill or respond to your requests. We may store these requests to provide us with information for future improvements to our website. We may forward your e-mail to other departments with the Credit Union to employees who are better able to respond to your request. Astera Credit Union may also use this information to help us do our work. We do not create individual profiles with the information you provide. Astera Credit Union does not give, sell or transfer personal information to third parties, unless required by law.

Treatment of Members As Consumers

With respect to interactions with members as consumers or those applying to be consumers, the CEO will not cause or allow conditions, procedures, or decisions that are unsafe, undignified, or unnecessarily intrusive.

Further, without limiting the scope of the foregoing by this enumeration, he or she will not:

1. Elicit information for which there is no necessity.

2. Use methods of collecting, reviewing, transmitting, or storing member information that fails to protect against improper access to the material elicited.

3. Operate facilities without appropriate accessibility and privacy.

4. Leave members an unclear understanding of what may be expected from the service offered.

5. Allow members to be uninformed of this policy, or not provide a way to be heard for persons who believe they have not been accorded a reasonable interpretation of their protections under this policy.

Social Media Community Standards Policy

Astera CU reserves the right to delete any post or ban any social media account that does not abide to Astera CU standards. While we accept all forms of critique, posts must be in a respectable manner to all parties. To read the social media guidelines policy in its entirety, click here.

Astera CU Mobile App Policy

The Astera CU mobile app and the Astera Card Controls mobile app periodically collect, transmit, and uses geolocation information for enabling features such as, but not limited to, card use and alerts to prevent fraudulent activities, but only if the end-user expressly authorizes the collection of such information. Both Astera mobile applications may require access to the contact list on your mobile device in order to facilitate certain features within the application, including, but not limited to Bill Pay. Geolocation information can be monitored on a continuous basis in the background only while the feature(s) are being used or not at all, depending on the end user’s selection. The end user can change his/her/their location permissions at any time in their device settings.

Google Analytics

Many websites and apps use Google services to improve their content. When they integrate Google services, these sites and apps share information with Google. We use Google Analytics to better understand how users are visiting and using our sites. Google Analytics collects information such as how often users visit this site, what pages they visit when they do so, and what other sites they used prior to coming to this site. Google Analytics collects the IP address assigned to you on the date you visit this site, rather than your name or other identifying information. We do not combine the information collected through the use of Google Analytics with personally identifiable information. Although Google Analytics plants a cookie on your web browser to identify you as a unique user the next time you visit this site, the cookie cannot be used by anyone but Google. Closing your Account

Did you know you can keep your account open even if you change jobs or move? That’s right!  Once you’re a member, you can always be a member.  However, if you would like to close your account, you may do so using one of the following methods:

    1. In person at one of our branches
    2. Call us at 800-323-0048

Request Deactivation of Your Online Banking Access

Due to legitimate business purposes and as required to comply with applicable law, we cannot delete your online banking data. However, we can deactivate online access.  If you would like to request the deactivation of your online banking access at Astera Credit Union, you may do so using one of the following methods:
