Financial Assistance for Strike Employees

  • September 16, 2019

Astera Credit Union highly values the partnership we have with our members who are employed with General Motors. We recognize that when contract negotiations break down and a strike scenario occurs, financial hardship can be one missed paycheck away. Providing a consultative approach and flexibility in assisting members is a cornerstone of what Astera Credit Union does. If you need financial assistance, we have several options that may be available to you.

If you have a loan with Astera we offer:

  • Skip-a-Pay – It allows you to skip one month of your loan payment. You can access this benefit through online banking, or by contacting the credit union.
  • Account Reviews – Astera staff is available and ready to assist with reviewing your loans to determine if there are ways to reduce your payment(s).

If you need a loan we offer:

  • Lines-of-Credit – Use only what you need. Pay only what you use.
  • The “Lending Hand” Loan – A loan designed for workers to assist in keeping you out of financial hardships, which can occur during a strike scenario. Maximum loan amount of $2,000.*

If you need financial consultation, we also encourage you to contact GreenPath Financial Wellness. They will provide phone guidance on how to better navigate your finances during and immediately following the strike.
